All Rowe’s in the State of New Hampshire in 1790
Note: from the red line down are those Rowe’s in the same county and/or township as our George Rowe, and this list includes our George Rowe, Sr.
It could be that all these Rowe’s are related and that we are looking at a bunch of Rowe brothers. It also could be that we are looking at a father and sons. That has yet to be determined. Peggy thinks that it is possible that Abraham Rowe is the father of George Rowe and others based on other data collected from Familysearch.org. This is not at all proven and we all should remain open to other possibilities.
Abraham was married to a Kitty. He was born in 1755 in Barrington, Strafford, N.H. He died in Embden, Somerset County, Maine. As you can see from this little bit of data that I really lean towards the fact that we are at the least cousins of this Abraham if we aren’t direct descendants.
I also saw something else that caught my eye. It is a family story that Alden’s middle name was Boynton. When I originally heard this story years ago, it was even spelled just that way. Since, I don’t know who did it, the spelling was changed to reflect the ‘proper’ spelling in modern times: Boyington. And also through the years there have been disagreements as whether or not Boynton was his middle name at all. Some say his middle name is Bernard.
All we have proof of is that he is Alden B. Rowe. His son, Alfred was also an A. B. Rowe. I was originally told Alfred Bernard Rowe. Then others insisted it was Alfred Boyington Rowe. I have NO proof either way.
But, what I do keep running into is Boynton’s associated with the older Rowe clan. In Maine, before Alden was thought about, our Rowe’s associated with a Boynton family. And here in 1790 Census, we see a Boynton family living in the same township and county as our Rowe’s. I believe that the Rowe’s and Boynton’s were probably what has become known as “allied families” and it is my conjecture that Alden’s middle name was Boynton and that he was named after someone in this allied family who meant something either to our George’s or Abraham.
IF ANYONE from outside the Family should see this page and has any ideas that can help with these clues and families please email me!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!
